Walter Fitzgerald
Mr. Fitzgerald (Halifax, Canada) began his working life as an educator. In
1966 he entered politics, first as an Alderman and later as Mayor of the City of
Halifax from 1971-1974. In 1974 he was elected as a member of the Nova Scotia
Legislative Assembly where he served until 1980 including acting as a cabinet
member. He re-entered municipal politics in 1988 as an Alderman, Deputy Mayor in
1994 and from 1995-2000 as Mayor during amalgamation of Halifax City and
surrounding municipalities to form Halifax Regional Municipality in 1996.
Mr. Fitzgerald has been a director since June 2004 and is a member of the
Audit Committee and the Governance Committee.
